As of July 2023, MySQL has moved to a new release model, consisting of two tracks: LTS and Innovation. Where the LTS focuses on long time stability, the Innovation track offers regular new features and improvements. See also https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.4/en/mysql-releases.html.
The innovation track comes with various enhancements and benefits as listed on the blog. Therefore, it would be nice to allow managed database creation of and upgrading to the innovation track. However, for this to be a viable option, this would require regular (i.e. most likely three monthly, following the MySQL release cadence) updates of the version to ensure these benefits can be taken advantage of.
