Allow App Platform apps to use block storage volumes
under review
Dmenis TH
As I understand it this feature is already available on the DigitalOcean Kubernetes platform. I am reading here that this is already being discussed for over 2 years to make it available on the App platform. Oops, correction I see it is being discussed for over 4 years.
Perhaps it is time for DigitalOcean to give its customers clarity.
PS I am currently looking into Railway as an alternative as I need more than the 4Gb of persistent storage.

App Platform Add Block Storage

App platform is a managed service, please note down my future request- "add a option to attach block storage volume with all connected app platform".
That feature is really helpful and needed for app platfrom horizontal scaling.

Increase App Platform Disk Limit

I love the App Platform but the 2gb disk limit makes it almost unusable for any project that allows users to upload large files, like videos. Even with pre-signed URLs so uploads go directly to object storage, we sometimes need to pull files to do analysis on them and if they're over 2gb our app crashes.
It would be amazing to have any way to handle this, whether its simply an increase of the default (8gb seems reasonable), or volume-support, or even a premium paid-for feature.
We've considered adding a droplet but then needing to manage that sort of defeats the purpose of the App Platform in the first place...

We are trying to access blocked storage from App Platform
Sridhar Kannan
Hello Team,
We are trying access blocked volume from App platform, we are unable to connect.
Is there an alternate approach to connect blocked volume or do we have any other feature like that. please advise

My app needs persistent data, but the current setup is a major bottleneck. Every time a container restarts or deploys, it has to re-download all its data from Spaces. This process takes 3-5 minutes and seems limited to about 2GB per container. Moving to Kubernetes just for this feature feels like overkill, so I'm really looking forward to a built-in solution!

Would be great if DigitalOcean can give an answer and timeline.

In my case, I need to share locally written files between services, and i can't do that with S3 storage.

sometimes you need to iterate over files and they have to be local for that not via api. so you need some playground space to do some of the engineering work. it's inconceivable for me someone engineered this without Mounting abilities
reminds me of amazon fargate 10 years ago.

this is Mandatory and basic. have i know this is not possible would not have used DigitalOcean, I'm now stuck until this feature is ready. or i will leave digital ocean soon

Yes, for us too - if either Spaces or Block Storage could be mounted onto App Platform apps this would be a huge step forward for the platform.
